What is translation?
The English word “translation” derives from the Latin word translatio, which comes from trans, “across” + ferre, “to carry” or “to bring” (latio in turn coming from latus, the past participle of ferre). Thus, translatio is “a carrying across” or “a bringing across”: in this case, of a text from one language to another.
It may generally be easier to translate everyday expressions from one language to another, both in written and spoken form. However, if the content to be translated is related to political, legal, commercial, and academic subjects, people who are trained and experienced in translation are required.
Today, the area that needs translation most is the commercial field. Such subjects as international expansion of the companies, foreign investment or partnership with a foreign company require translation services in many languages, such as Russian translation, Italian translation, Spanish translation, Arabic translation, and particularly English translation. In addition, Chinese translation has become quite common due to recent technological progress and the rapid increase of production in China. However, English translation is still the most widely used one, as it has become a universal language.
Requests for translation of documents used in international legal proceedings are usually for English legal translation.
